Using hard and tough abrasive grain for high removal rates

The basis for the structure of the short belt for handheld machines LS 309 XH by Klingspor is formed by an X-cotton backing. This natural cloth has been processed in a way that ensures exceptionally high tear resistance. The abrasive belt is also flexible enough for use on a portable belt sander. The grain used is corundum, a synthetic grain made of aluminium oxide. Corundum is marked by its particular hardness and toughness. Boasting a crystalline and irregular shape, the grain is blocky and shows macro wear characteristics during use. Wearing down slowly, it offers high removal rates throughout its entire useful life. Klingspor uses synthetic resin for this short belt for handheld machines to provide for secure and stable bonding. The close coating of the grain ensures a long service along with outstanding abrasive performance. Such products require a secure connection of the two ends of the belt. This is why the short belt for handheld machines LS 309 XH is closed with an overlapping joint connection. This overlap joint - with no resin or abrasive grain in the overlap area - has excellent reliability.
