Manufacturer Usage Recommendation Replace mask every 2-4 hours, or as required
Research-Based Opinion At this point, there are no occupational health and safety guidelines for
general industrial use to regulate the use of face coverings. Our opinion is
to follow the mask manufacturer's guidelines until guidelines are created
or changing more often as required by usage

How to properly wear a face mask

• Distribute face masks in sealed packages
• Train team in the importance of safeguarding the mask allotment and
the importantace of being clean shaven: reference CSA Z94.4
• Wash Hands following World Health Organization, or all regional
health authority recommendations
• Inspect face mask for quality, for example tears, broken loops
• Position the colored side of the mask outwards (it is essential to have
the mask on in the proper position)
• Make sure the metallic strip is at the top of the mask and positioned
against the bridge of your nose.
• Hold one elastic loop in each hand, and place one loop over each ear
so that the mask is covering both nose and mouth
• Adjust nose piece with the mouldable metal wire to bridge of the
nose, by pinching and pressing down on it with your fingers
• Pull the bottom of the mask, completely covering your mouth and
chin
• Be sure the mask fits snugly
• Don't touch your face, or the mask once in position
• Wash hands, before and after apply or removing the mask
• If the mask is soiled or damp, replace with a new mask immediately
