Three Easy Home Fixes with Gorilla Glue

Three Easy Home Fixes with Gorilla Glue

Gorilla Glue is a household name because of one reason: it works. We carry Gorilla Glue at Edmonton Fasteners because we love it. Our own appreciation for it probably isn’t enough to convince you to BOND with Gorilla Glue. So let us do what we’re good at and use our expertise to explain how you can use this glue.

Let’s start off with what materials Gorilla Glue can bond. Most commonly, Gorilla Glue is used for wood, glass, metal, stones, ceramic, and many other materials. What makes Gorilla Glue unique? It’s can be sanded down, painted over, and even stained. Gorilla Glue can "bond to virtually anything," so go ahead and try it out.

Here are a few of the most common household uses of Gorilla Glue:

  1. Fixing a Chair Leg - Gorilla Glue is very, very strong. Loose chair leg? Squeeze some glue in the space between the leg and the base where it attaches and clamp together tightly (if possible). If not possible to clamp, place chair on ground properly and sit weights on it to press base against leg. Wait 24 hours. Done.

  2. Fixing Soles of Shoes - We know, this sounds odd, but trust us, it’s not. Gorilla Glue is special because it holds effectively while being able to bend and stretch, the perfect formula needed to glue the rubber sole of a shoe with restricting it. Plus, Gorilla Glue dries fast, so you'll literally be back up and running (or walking) in no time.

  3. Woodworking is a craft we highly respect, but we also realize not everyone has the skill, precision, and experience. Additionally, many people just dabble in the woodworking world once or twice. If this sounds like you, we recommend trying out this method before you go nailing pieces of wood together freehand. Before placing any nails into the wood, it may be smart to glue the pieces together, where you want them adhered, and let them dry. This way when you hammer a nail or drill a screw through both pieces, they won’t move, and will also be extra secure being glued together.

Some other fun facts: Gorilla Glue formulas is water resistant. This means you don't have to worry about getting your glued projects wet because this glue won't break down (we still don't recommend you regularly expose the glue to water, but in general, it holds up much better than any other glue). Also, the white Gorilla Glue (found here) can dry twice as fast as the original. Well, there it is folks. Only a handful of purposes and a handful of facts that already prove this glue is a product worth purchasing.
