3M's Scotch-Brite SB27675 Surface Conditioning Disc is a perfect choice for the first step for cleaning, blending, deburring, and finishing. The disc's durable, non-woven fibre construction conforms well on irregular or contoured surfaces, while the open web construction resists loading. The Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Disc was designed with an open-web material that helps the disc run cool and resists loading. Interspersed aluminum oxide or silicon carbide abrasives give the user a high cut-rate for consistent finishing. Aluminum oxide is the number one choice among industrial professionals because of its cut-rate and long life. This mineral is a durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges in use, whereas traditional abrasives, such as garnet, quickly wear down with use. Due to its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, aluminum oxide mineral is commonly used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing use. Silicon carbide is tougher than aluminum oxide, but it breaks down more quickly.
